Top Features of the DeltaPoint Pro Reflex Sight
Design
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro is manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum, making for a chassis that is ultra-lightweight but durable. The sight weighs a mere 1.9 oz with the battery installed. The sights design includes a steel sheath that protects the lenses from impacts shooters encounter at the range or in the field.
This reflex sight uses an aspheric lens (one of the lens’s surfaces profile is not a portion of a sphere) to reduce spherical or optical aberrations like astigmatism. These types of lenses can also provide a crisper viewing experience.
Leopold applies a proprietary coating called DiamondCoat for a highly scratch-resistant lens. The DeltaPoint Pro provides one of the clearest viewing options in micro red dot sights.
The DeltaPoint Pro is waterproof up to a depth of 33 feet, which is comparable to the IPX8 rating. This reflex sight is also considered fog proof. Having a red dot sight that can stand up to high moisture environments is important for long-term reliability of the optic in various conditions.
Being a micro red dot sight, the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro boasts a small footprint with a length of 1.82 inches and a width of 1.31 inches. The overall height of the sight is 1.30 inches.
The DeltaPoint Pro is slightly larger than some of the other MRDs allowing for a larger viewing window and an increased Field of View (FOV). Some shooters prefer a larger viewing window for target/dot acquisition.

Reticle
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro has two options when it comes to reticle size/pattern a 2.5 MOA red dot or a 7.5 MOA red Inscribed Delta (fancy for triangle). We feel that reticle size depends on the application and personal preference.
Whereas a smaller reticle dot can deliver more precision for mid-range engagements, while some shooters prefer a larger dot for close-quarters engagements.
This reflex sight has eight brightness settings controlled by a single button at the top of the sight. To change the brightness level of the sight, you must cycle through each setting to the highest or lowest setting before you can adjust it in the other direction.
Or you can press and hold the button for 2 seconds to change the adjustment direction. The led will flash when it reaches its lowest or highest setting.
Operation
A single 3v CR2032 lithium battery powers the Delta Point Pro. The battery is conveniently located on the top of the sight and easy easily accessible via a button. This is a great feature that allows for quick and easy replacement of the battery without any tools.
The battery life of the DeltaPoint Pro is around 300 hrs under continuous use at the highest setting, according to a comment from Leupold Technical Service. The red dot will flash ten times when low battery power is detected.
This red dot sight utilizes motion sensor technology that places the optic in sleep mode after 5 minutes without movement. When the sight senses movement, it powers up the red dot to the last brightness setting for immediate target engagement. With motion-sensing technology, the DeltaPoint Pro can save precious battery life for when you need it.
The elevation adjustment is on the top of the sight while the windage adjustment is on the right side. The adjustment screws are recessed to safeguard against accidental changes but are readily accessible with a cartridge or a coin.
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro adjustments are 1 MOA (Minute of Angle) per click with +- 60 MOA of adjustment available for both windage and elevation. There is plenty of adjustment range here, and with 1 MOA adjustment per click, any shooter should be able to dial in their optic for precision out to intermediate-range targets.
Mounting
With the DeltaPoint Pro, almost all mounting scenarios will require a mounting base. These mounting bases are sold separately, so be sure to pick one up when you purchase this red dot sight.
You will not need a mounting base or a dovetail if you are mounting the reflex sight on a custom milled slide or a Glock Modular Optic System (MOS), oh, and now the Sig Sauer M-17.

Other Great Features
This red dot sight comes with factory blackened lens edges. Blackened lens edges greatly reduce stray light from other sources other than that of the optic led. This feature ensures a crisp red dot that is visible at a lower brightness setting, keeping the dot as close to a perceived 2.5 MOA dot.
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pros slightly larger size allows for a larger field of view. Many shooters swear by the larger FOV of this sight and believe that it gives that a target/dot acquisition advantage.
Pros vs. Cons of the DeltaPoint Reflex Sight
The Pros
The DeltaPoint Pro is a simple to operate out of the box red dot sight. Any level of shooter will find this sight easy to use and intuitive with a small to no learning curve.
This red dot sight’s addition of a steel sheath decreases energy transfer to the lens from impacts routinely encountered in any firearm engagement. This increases the ruggedness of this optic, making it suitable for duty carry and military employment.
Leupold’s incorporation of motion-sensing technology enables a longer battery life in several applications. This is a great feature, especially for anyone considering using a reflex sight for home defense applications.
The DeltPoint Pro has an easy to access spring-loaded battery compartment, and button activated located conveniently on the top of the optic. This little feature keeps maintenance to a minimum, as you will not have to remove the optic to replace the battery.
Another Pro for this sight is the clarity of the dot and target through the optic. Many owners of this sight say it is the clearest sight picture through a reflex sight that they have encountered.
The Cons
The single button brightness operation is a sticking point for some shooters. A conceal carry shooter may find it difficult to keep the reticule brightness of this sight adjusted for varying light conditions throughout the day.
Battery life is another con for this sight. From what we could learn from Leopold’s Technical Service, shooters can expect a minimum of 300 hours of continuous use at the highest brightness settings. This may be a con that most shooters can overlook, especially since battery change out is super easy with this red dot sight.
